Agents Do Charity - another weekend of wonderful fund-raising…

With summer in full swing (will someone tell the weather?) we’re having bumper editions of Agents Do Charity, and this weekend’s is no exception.

But we want more! Let us know what you’re doing and we’ll promote your Just Giving page or tip our hat to the great sums you’ve raised.

Everyone we mention this week has been in touch by emailing press@estateagenttoday.co.uk.

If you do the same, we’ll mention you next week.

Now, summer galoshes on and off we go to raise some more…

Campaign Against Living Miserably: Sittingbourne estate agency Quealy says it’s been totally overwhelmed by the generosity and support shown to its runners in the town’s recent 10k event - and a fantastic £2,835 has been raised for CALM. Well done everyone!

-

Clackmannanshire Citizens Advice Bureau: More than £38,000 has been raised for the Housing Advice and Mediation Service project to increase tenants’ knowledge of their rights and responsibilities.

This came from the SafeDeposits Scotland Charitable Trust.

HAMES aims to assist 100 tenants per year to gain a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities in private tenancies. It will also offer guidance to landlords regarding their own obligations.

A grant-giving charity, the SafeDeposits Scotland Charitable Trust was established to help improve Scotland’s private rental sector. It promotes and facilitates education, training and best practice within the sector by funding projects that provide tangible benefits to landlords, letting agents and tenants alike.

The next closing date for applications is August 13.

Fine & Country Foundation: A group of 25 estate agents and friends from Fine & Country will tackle an intensive 24-hour hiking adventure: the National Three Peaks Challenge on June 22.

This epic challenge will be the largest walking expedition The Fine & Country Foundation has undertaken to raise money for homelessness. Each trekker aims to raise a minimum of £200 for vital homeless projects in the UK and overseas.

Lee Armstrong, Partner from Fine & Country Derbyshire and his team were the inspiration for the challenge following their Peak District challenge in October last year.

“We are doing this in support of The Fine & Country Foundation and will dedicate our funds to the Padley Centre in Derbyshire. Last year, through The Foundation, we helped them refurbish their reception centre, but they still need more help. This is a really worthy cause and they help 100s of people each week across Derbyshire. We are incredibly grateful for every donation, no matter how big or small” he says.

To support The Fine & Country Foundation, please visit www.justgiving.com/companyteams/FineAndCountryNL.

And there are just a few spaces available for The Fine & Country Foundation’s Kilimanjaro adventure in October.

The journey includes a visit to Youth in Action Against HIV/AIDS. The foundation has partnered with YAAPHA so every penny raised from the expedition will go directly to supporting its vital work.

Charlotte Schofield, foundation coordinator, says: “I was asked by some members to organise an expedition to Kilimanjaro. As our Nepal project came to an end, this was the perfect opportunity to search for a new international project.”

To register contact foundation@fineandcountry.com or call 020 3368 8221. Registration closes on July 26.

Plymouth Area Property Professionals Association: Property professionals will be getting into the swing of it again on June 26 at Staddon Heights Golf Club in Plymouth.

First held in 2006, the tournament is one of the most popular days on the PAPPA events calendar and, once again, teams of four will be battling it out for prizes and bragging rights in the competition, which this year, includes a putting challenge.

Teams taking part in the golf tournament are made up of PAPPA members, as well as friends and clients – and they will also be helping to raise money for adopted charity, Horizons Children’s Sailing Charity.

Ben Dreher, PAPPA chairman, says: “Everyone who takes part in this event is always tremendously generous and I am sure we will be able to raise a good sum for friends at Horizons.”

Make A Wish UK: The fifth annual Rumble with the Agents white-collar charity boxing event in Finchley has raised over £19,000 for this great charity, which will enable eight children with critical illnesses to be granted their once in a lifetime wish.

On the night, 10 boxers were paired for the five fights comprising three rounds each.  Heckled and cheered on by friends, family and colleagues, each demonstrated the effort they had put into the intensive training over the last few months.

Agents Do Charity - another weekend of wonderful fund-raising…

The incredible amount was raised from donations, a raffle and a live auction of sporting memorabilia, which every year Paul Shamplina , founder of Landlord Action, sources from far and wide in order to maximise the event’s charity donation.

Paul says: “I can’t believe this has been the fifth year we have run this event. It was never my intention to launch an annual event, but every year it gets better, we raise more money and the quality of boxing from the novices improves.”

To volunteer to take part in next year’s event or donate please email Rita Shamplina on info@rumblewiththeagents.co.uk or call 07790 569501.

Donna Louise Hospice: Staffordshire estate agent James Du Pavey (aka #TheFlyingEstateAgent) is flying 1,200 kilometres by powered paraglider from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise £10,000 for the hospice.

As James is at the mercy of the great British weather, this brave, albeit whacky, challenge of man and machine versus the extremes of landscape, weather and wind will take place at some time during June or July.

James comments: ‘Up there it will just be me and my machine flying at up to 10,000 ft. facing all that the elements have to throw at us. It will be physically, mentally and technically tough and I will have to dig deep into my reserves to reach my goal.”

The Donna Louise Hospice provides critical services and support for children, young adults and their families with life-shortening and life-limiting conditions.

And James concludes: “We are asking everyone to support The Flying Estate Agent challenge in whatever way they can either by donating to my JustGiving page or simply by sharing, re-tweeting and supporting my social media - and don't forget to use the hashtag #TheFlyingEstateAgent when you see me overhead!”
