New portal showing ‘property potential’ to roll out across UK

A ‘property potential’ portal which claims to be highly successful across the south east of England is now going to launch across the rest of the UK this year.

Since the end of 2017 the portal Upshoot has listed property currently on sale in the south east; along with usual details the portal’s algorithms reveal what they believe the development potential of each property is, illustrating what could be achieved on each in terms of alteration and extension.

Users can then get Upshoot to provide free 3D interactive models of each property, costings and an indication of the potential uplift in value once the work has completed.

The portal claims 25,000 visits monthly assessing the development potential of 50,000-plus properties, prompting the company behind it to expand from its current patch of London, Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

"More and more homeowners and buyers are looking at the development potential of houses in terms of extension, renovation and self-build. The process of design and construction can be extremely complicated and a daunting prospect for those without the experience and knowledge” says Adam Tarr, Upshoot's chief executive.

Upshoot allows users to conduct intuitive searches such as: '120sqm 4 bed house in Tunbridge Wells with a 200sqm south facing garden under £500k'.

Other searches which the portal describes as having been popular in the past three months include those with potential to add another bedroom, and homes with good access to certain local amenities.

“We aim to show everybody the potential of properties for sale. Even if homebuyers don't want to extend immediately, you never know what the future holds. Upshoot can reveal the hidden value of each property and helps users to compare similar properties and uncover any hidden potential, helping buyers to identify their preferred option” Tarr says.

The portal now has a new feature allowing users to enter their address and upload a floorplan to receive a report of potential possible works to their house.
