Slowdown in homes coming to the market, says Agency Express

Agency Express says that following a strong start to the year there’s a been a slowdown in the number of properties coming to the market.

Its latest market monitor shows that in February figures for properties ‘Sold’ remained strong, growing 16.9 per cent, but figures for properties coming on to the market fell at 0.7 per cent.

It says that while February’s figures for new listings look more dramatic because of a spike in January, the yearly data shows that by this time last year there was a greater level of activity in the market.

All 12 regions reported increases in properties ‘Sold’ but only five reported increases in properties coming on to the market.

Scotland sat at the top of this month’s leader board with new listing ‘For Sale’ up 24.7 per cent and properties ‘Sold’ at 27.7 per cent.

Other regional hotspots ‘For Sale’ included Yorkshire and Humberside, the North West, Wales and the East Midlands.

The largest decline in this month’s index was made in London.

Agency Express says that following robust activity in January, month on month figures for new listings in the capital fell 8.8 per cent and are down 23.1 per cent over a three month rolling period.
