Property Jobs Today - your weekly round-up of key industry moves

Welcome to this week’s PJT, your chance to catch up with the latest key job moves.

Keep in touch with us on press@estateagenttoday.co.uk - just let us know who’s moving where, and we’ll tell the industry.

Let’s start this week with a reminder that perhaps the most controversial jobs news of the past seven days has come from Purplebricks, where UK chief executive Lee Wainwright has quit the hybrid agency.

Wainwright joined Purplebricks as chief operations officer in March 2017 after a 26 year career with Countrywide where he had been a divisional managing director for 12 years. At Countrywide he had responsibility for the growth and strategic development of a number of their brands and divisions; he had joined the company as a trainee estate agent direct from school.

Officially he’s quit Purplebricks for “personal reasons” - we’ll be keeping an eye out to where he next pops up in the industry.

There are also reports that House Network, one of the very earliest online agencies, may also be making redundancies - we wish everyone the best there and will report when there’s specific news.

-

Now happier news and we can report that Germaine Spence, who was made redundant before Christmas after working at yet another online firm, Emoov/Tepilo, has a new role.

He’s now a sales negotiator with Connells in St Albans.

Germaine - who got in touch with us to share the good news - has been in the industry for three years having started at Wrights of Stevenage before moving to Emoov/Tepilo.

Good luck with the new job Germaine…

Property Jobs Today - your weekly round-up of key industry movesThe growing world of deposit alternatives now involves several companies, one of the largest of which is flatfair.

Now Dean Main, managing director of luxury property management company Rhodium, has joined the board of flatfair.

“I was very impressed by the business model at flatfair and could quickly see the benefits of deposit free lettings."

"It’s always exciting to be involved with young, energetic start-ups and I hope that my experience of launching and growing Rhodium, will mean that I am well placed to offer advice and support.”

Franz Doerr, co-founder of flatfair adds: “We are delighted to welcome Dean to the board. Dean’s wealth of experience in the luxury residential property market and his unparalleled knowledge and expertise in this area, will be invaluable as flatfair continues to expand into the luxury sector. We are very excited for what lies ahead for the business.”

Finally this week, a story that’s not strictly connected with jobs but is good news for westcountry agency East of Exe and its sister firm West of Exe.

Property Jobs Today - your weekly round-up of key industry movesThe agency is a finalist for the Exeter Living Awards - the only agency in the city to make the shortlist. The Exeter Living Awards are the business highlight of the city and regarded as the most prestigious and fiercely contested awards with the greatest number of local companies involved.

The photo shows one of the agency directors, Chris Taylor, marking the event with a ‘finalist’ sticker.

The result will be known on March 7.

That’s it for this week: we’re back next Monday of course, so until then…
