Agents Do Charity - thousands more raised for good causes

1265ip: Andrews Property Group has presented this charity with a cheque for £5,000 following a successful Christmas campaign that put power in the hands of the property business’s clients to decide which organisation should receive the windfall.

Already known for giving back to the communities in which it operates, Andrews launched the ‘Jolly Good Christmas’ campaign in which any customer booking either a valuation or mortgage appointment was given the opportunity to vote for one of three charities with whom Andrews already worked closely. 

Those three charities were 1625ip which tackles youth homelessness in the South West; CAYSH which has a similar mission focused on the South London area; and Carers Worldwide which provides support to carers in low- and middle-income countries around the world.

1625ip received 54 per cent of the vote and group chief executive David Westgate says: “All of the organisations that we chose are important to Andrews, but 1625ip holds a particularly special place in our hearts as it was our first partner in the delivery of our programme that supports young, vulnerable, people with their housing needs. I don’t doubt that they’ll put this additional donation to great use.”

St Paul’s Hostel: Vanessa Bradford, a partner from Fine & Country Droitwich Spa, has visited St Paul’s Hostel in Worcester, the homeless charity she successfully nominated for The Fine & Country Foundation’s autumn grant programme.

The £700 grant has funded new Audio Visual (AV) equipment to enable digital skills education in small groups.

Many of their clients have never used computers and some have literacy difficulties. The AV project, known as Project MINERVA, is designed to encourage learning in a friendly and inclusive environment. Clients can develop and refine their skills, improve their CV and confidence and help gain employment and self-fulfilment.

“It was an amazing experience. I had a full insight into how St Paul’s Hostel functions. They work with their clients to learn about their past experiences. Most of them have suffered trauma situations, such as: sexual abuse, emotional abuse and domestic violence” says Vanessa.

Hope4: Fine & Country Rugby joined homeless charity Hope4 for the coldest sleep out they had ever undertaken.

Temperatures dropped to -4 degrees Celsius and Sam Funnell, branch manager, and Claire Heritage, marketing manager were amongst those raising funds. 

“We made it through what was an extremely cold night. It was incredibly uncomfortable at times, but so pleasing to see 15 other fundraisers all doing their bit for Hope4” explains Sam.

“We are very pleased to report that between Claire and myself, we have raised more than £1,000 which is a fantastic figure and we’d like to thank everyone who donated to the cause”

Hope4 provides breakfast and lunch for Rugby’s homeless community. Clients can use their time at Hope4 to seek advice, learn computer skills, apply for jobs, relax and socialise.
