Market intelligence boost for independent agents in new trade body

Agents who join the fast-growing Federation of Independent Agents will have full access to the new Homesearch mine of data.

Homesearch debuted in June and claimed it would offer “game changing” access to property data and market intelligence; the free data it has offered so far is now being scaled back pending the introduction of a paid-for ‘pro’ service priced up to £55 per month.

But now the FIA has revealed its members will get full access for free, as part of their FIA subscription.

“The FIA is always on the lookout for the very best products in the market and Homesearch has been on our radar since day one, so I’m thrilled that I’m able to provide my members with the continued benefit of the unique data platform as part of their FIA subscription” says the federation’s founder Graham Lock.

“I’m very excited about the future of this product, there aren’t many that come along in our industry that genuinely improve the service that agents can offer. As competition for market share heats up it often comes down to the marginal gains, Homesearch certainly provides that and in doing so will give FIA members a competitive advantage that we’ll continue to harvest by sharing best-practice, starting with our next conference in January where Homesearch will be one of many keynote speakers” continues Lock.

The FIA aims to leverage the economies of scale of a large number of independents combined, in order to secure PropTech and other services at a price and quality previously reserved for large high-spending corporates.

It consists of what Lock calls ”non-competing, high-calibre independent estate agents who are invited to join based on their dedication to customer service, professionalism and are ambitious in their thinking.”

The federation accepts only one agency per area into membership, and charges agents £295 plus VAT per branch per month.

Speaking about the new link with the FIA, Sam Hunter, director of Homesearch, adds:“We like Graham and we like the members he’s assembled so far – some of whom were already using Homesearch before joining the FIA. We know we’ve both got a long way to go as we establish our businesses but our mission is to support the best agents so working with the FIA fits nicely.”

I had predicted some time ago that this might be a great strategy for the 'smaller' property professionals, faced with a stark choice, buy tech off the shelf, or invest all your profit in tech and develop your own system.

The FIA strategy, join us and enjoy collective knowledge and buying power and have an exclusive area to do it in, is a really great concept, a bit like collective bargaining, without the hassle and at a low risk entry fee, and Homesearch certainly do have a an offering that adds value, insight and strategy, my favourite themes.
