Foxtons’ infamous Minis to go electric - eventually

The troubled London agency Foxtons says its fleet of branded Minis will go electric - but it has generously set itself a deadline of 2030 before the transition is complete.

Foxtons - which last week admitted it had closed another four branches as part of a long-term retrenchment in the capital - leases 850 vehicles now, almost all Minis.

Some run on petrol and others on diesel.

But now chief executive Nic Budden has told the Evening Standard free newspaper in the capital: “Businesses can contribute to the reduction of millions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year.”

Foxtons has also become a member of the EV100 global initiative which champions zero-emission transport.

Budden told the paper he supports the vision of London Mayor Sadiq Khan for expanding the capital’s EV-charging network but he says he wants “this roll-out ... accelerated so more businesses can make the switch sooner”.

Poll: Will Foxtons still be around when its fleet is all-electric in 2030
