First off this week, the Leaders Romans Group has named Sarah Thompson as its financial services managing director.

A former estate agent in Gosport, Sarah has worked for some years in different roles at LSL Property Services.

She says: “I’m very excited to be joining the Leaders Romans Group. The company is innovative and entrepreneurial, placing customers at the heart of everything they do. I am hoping that with my experience, the team and I can work together to implement more strategic direction, and I look forward to expanding the financial services proposition to help our clients make sound property decisions both in residential sales and lettings.”

Now let’s move up north to the property consultancy Galbraith - it’s no longer an exclusively Scottish firm as it’s now opened English offices in Hexham, Blagdon and Penrith too.

Now its celebrating five of its new graduate trainees passing the final stage of their Assessment of Professional Competence, awarded by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

The five joined the firm in the last 12 months and are: Claire Wilson, Philippa Orr, Isla Shaw, Sam Dillonand Alex Davis, based in the firm’s Castle Douglas, Cupar, Stirling, Aberdeen and Inverness offices respectively.

Iain Russell, chairman of Galbraith, says: “We are delighted to see our new staff developing their skills and experience which equips them for their future careers in property. Galbraith places the utmost importance on the recruitment of the best graduates and subsequent professional development, offering a comprehensive programme of training coupled with hands-on experience.”

There are big changes at Spicerhaart where Antony Lark has been promoted to the newly created position of group managing director to oversee Innovation and growth.

As part of an operational restructure, three ‘Chapter’ managing directors will report to him and CEO Paul Smith.

They are existing staff members Russell Jervis and Steve Williams plus a third person, soon to be announced, who will be jointly responsible for the company’s eight estate agency and lettings brands plus financial services business across the UK.

Antony joined Spicerhaart seven years ago from Countrywide, where he had risen through the ranks during his 17 years there. He says: “Our focus is on our people who are enabled by best in class technology so that they can deliver a five-star service to our customers.”

You may have read on these pages in recent days that the immediate past president of the NAEA - Mark Bentley- has joined eXp UK, the new US-inspired franchise network of freelance estate agents.

His business, to be called Mark Bentley powered by eXp UK, will launch in the New Year as will have a new agency under a similar label run by Ian Dobrin, who was recruitment director at the Connells group until recently.

To Birmingham now, where Principle Estate Management has appointed an apprentice property assistant to work in its customer services department as the business continues to grow after 18 months of operations.

Owen Judd’s new role includes a range of activities to help look after the properties Principle manages, particularly focusing on front-end customer services, taking calls and responding to emails from residents and dealing with their enquiries to organise repairs and maintenance.
