15% of estate agency sector workers feel unsafe at work - apparently

A survey suggests that 15 per cent of people who work in the real estate sector feel unsafe at work.

This figure does not include construction workers or those in other housebuilding roles - but those involved in more office-based real estate activities.

The survey has been conducted for RS Components and involved an analyst of data from the government’s Labour Force Survey and a separate survey of 1,306 workers split across 18 sectors - so the sample from real estate is likely to have been very small.

Real estate ranked 14th our of 18, so near the bottom of the ‘unsafe’ league table which was led - unsurprisingly - by the likes of forestry, defence and construction workers.

However, the survey claims that some 10 per cent of real estate workers feel there is inadequate or no health and safety training at work, the a average time spent off work because of illness in the past 12 months was 4.2 days, and 15 per cent reported feeling positive unsafe at work.

Poll: Do you ever feel unsafe at your workplace?
