Sales figures ahead of last year, says upbeat franchise agency

At least one estate agency appears to be doing better than expected in the current challenging market - Hunters says sales figures in the first half of 2018 are ahead of those reported for the same period last year.

A trading statement to shareholders says there’s been “an encouraging start to the year in line with the board’s expectations.”

In the six months to the end of June Hunters opened eight new branches - actually one fewer than in the first half of 2017.

It has also completed four acquisitions since last September through Hunters’ acquisition fund, which provides funding to franchisees looking to acquire additional lettings books or independent businesses.

The statement says the company will continue to “focus on delivering exceptional marketing, customer service and training, building upon its customer satisfaction ratings across its entire network which have been over 90 per cent for over five years.”

Glynis Frew, chief executive, says the performance is “laying the foundations for further growth this year.”
