Popular ex-Countrywide executive now managing director at Dexters

One of the country’s best know estate agents, Marc Goldberg, has joined London agency Dexters.

Goldberg spent some 30 years at Countrywide’s high-end brand Hamptons International, leaving the company almost exactly two years ago at the height of the rule of Counrywide’s former chief executive, Alison Platt.

Goldberg had been head of sales and executive director at Hamptons; when he left, an official Countrywide statement said a new structure was being instituted “to better coordinate and leverage opportunities and expertise across the entire Hamptons network.”

That statement came from Nick Hughes, then managing director of Hamptons International having joined the organisation in 2016 after a career in leisure, hospitality and banking.

Now Goldberg has reappeared at Dexters; he will take up the role of central London managing director, based in Mayfair.

He will also be taking a central role in the transition of Benham & Reeves Sales following its recent acquisition by Dexters. You can see details of that deal here.

"Dexters' unique culture means the company avoids the usual 'head office' approach. As a firm of chartered surveyors, standards are high and the Dexters Academy is brilliant. I anticipate Dexters being at the forefront of London property and I am very excited to have joined them" says Goldberg.

Dexters now describes itself as London's “leading independent residential property advisers and estate agency” with 35 offices in central London and over 70 across the capital as a whole.

It handles over 20,000 property transactions a year and arranges up to 45,000 viewings each month.

“Ninety per cent of managers and directors are trained and promoted from within. However, due to continued planned growth throughout London, we have exciting opportunities for the best talent in the business to join this exciting company, and we’re thrilled that Marc has joined us” explains Dexters chief executive Andy Shepherd.

“We invest in long-term relationships, so staff stay with us through their careers. We’re proud that we retain over 90 per cent of senior staff year-on-year."
