Property Jobs Today - the latest moves around our industry...

Hello and welcome to the latest PJT, our regular Monday round-up of moves around our industry.

Please let us know what’s happening with your firm by emailing us at press@estateagenttoday.co.uk.

Let’s start this week in Newcastle where chartered surveying and agency company Bradley Hall, one of the most active agents in the region, has appointed Mark Ketley (pictured right) to oversee its planning and design activities.

Mark joins the firm after 10 years with Northumberland county council, which included his most recent role as head of planning services.

Mark’s role will include overseeing planning applications, development appraisals, architectural design including landscape and master planning, building regulations, planning appeals and project management.

“In recent years Bradley Hall has rapidly became a key player in the North East property industry, and I’m delighted to join a team of professional industry experts with an outstanding track record” he says.

Meanwhile in London there’s good news for Jonathan Clews and Tammy Bailey - they’ve just moved within Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward to head up its high profile new branch at Acton in the west of the capital.

“Jonathan and Tammy have been with KFH a total of 13 years and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Acton market place. I wish them every success in these new roles” explains KFH managing director Lee Watts.

Outside the capital, Essex and Suffolk agency Fenn Wright has acquired Woodbridge operation Neals and opened what it calls a flagship branch in the town.

James Neal (pictured right), son of founder Dennis H B Neal, will be joining Fenn Wright as an associate partner and working from the new office.

One of the most senior figures in agency - Andrew Rettie - is standing down as chairman of Strutt & Parker in Scotland. He joined the firm 31 years ago and this week hands over to Jon Lambert (pictured right), head of Strutt & Parker's forestry arm John Clegg & Co.

Andrew's retirement comes just weeks after overseeing the move into one office in the centre of Edinburgh, bringing together the surveying and estate agency firms of BNP Paribas Real Estate UK, Strutt & Parker and John Clegg & Co under one roof.

This in turn follows the merger last year of BNP PRE UK with Strutt & Parker and John Clegg & Co.

“I’m delighted to be assuming the leadership of a Scottish business that has been nurtured and built up over many decades. Thanks to Andrew's careful stewardship in Scotland and the exciting merger of three successful UK brands, I’m taking over a robust, progressive and multi-disciplinary property business” explains Jon.

Well known industry supplier Suzie Pattison, managing director of Ravensworth, is leaving after 28 years with the firm, following its acquisition by ZPG.

Ravensworth became famous across the industry for printing property details, pioneering on-demand particulars.

Finally some sad news to end this week’s report.

David Salusbury, the former chairman of the National Landlords Association, the UK Association of Letting Agents and of mydeposits, has died at the age of 74.

Property Jobs Today - the latest moves around our industry...After a successful 30 year career with the Royal Air Force, David joined the then Small Landlords Association in 2001, later becoming executive chairman; he was charged with turning the association into a national representative body – a process he began by changing the name to the NLA.

He then went on to lead to the organisation for more than 10 years, overseeing its remarkable transformation by building its credibility and growing its membership by more than 16,000 accounts before stepping down in the summer of 2013.

After brokering the NLA’s partnership with UKALA in 2010, he went on to serve as its chairman until 2016.

“Throughout his life and career, David Salusbury commanded respect. He held his beliefs and principles strongly, and was prepared to be forthright in advancing or defending them.

Without his drive and determination, the NLA would be unrecognisable as the organisation it is today” says Richard Lambert, the current chief executive of the NLA.
