Purplebricks' new UK chief to face the industry for the first time

Purplebricks’ new UK chief executive officer, Lee Wainwright, is to address a major industry conference in May - his first address to a public event in his new capacity.

Wainwright will speak in front of an estimated 1,200 delegates at Future: Proptech, the annual event showcasing and debating technological and digital innovation in the property industry.

Angels Media, the publisher of Estate Agent Today and its sister titles, is the official residential media partner of the event.

Wainwright was named as UK CEO last month, with co-founder Michael Bruce remaining in post as chief executive of the global Purplebricks group.

He joined Purplebricks as chief operations officer last March; since then he has helped recruit and train over 300 Local Property Experts and has been involved with the hybrid agency’s post-sales support and conveyancing teams.

Wainwright previously had a 26 year career with Countrywide where he had been a divisional managing director for 12 years; at Countrywide he also had responsibility for the growth and strategic development of a number of their brands and divisions.

He joined Countrywide as a trainee estate agent direct from school.

This year’s Future: Proptech event takes place on May 2 in London, at the Business Design Centre in Islington.

In addition to Wainwright, the confirmed speakers include Anthony Codling, managing director of and leading housing analyst at City investment consultancy Jefferies; John Abbott, director of digital, data and technology at HM Land Registry; leading Proptech analyst Antony Slumbers; Susan Freeman, a partner at Mishcon de Reya; and Lisa Shaforostova, a director at CBRE; plus many others.
