The BBC says it is to broadcast a special one-hour radio documentary this weekend investigating online estate agencies.
The show will go out at 11am on Sunday February 4 on Radio 5 Live, with the podcast of the programme available on the BBC website shortly afterwards.
Promotional material for the show - called 5Live Investigates - describes the content this way:
“Do online estate agents really offer value for money? Boasting cut prices and up-front fees, the online property business has gone from strength to strength since it emerged four years ago. Now it’s threatening the very survival of high street agents. But are sales exaggerated and is advertising misleading?”
The programme is being hosted by hosted by Adrian Goldberg, a Midlands journalist who has in the past been a reporter on the BBC’s Watchdog consumer programme.
Publicity material for the programme says he “hears from insiders, buyers and sellers” about their experiences with online agencies.
The programme comes just as Purplebricks and City consultancy Jefferies have become involved in a high-profile spat over alleged completion figures and sales.
