New Year Sale: £1.1m off homes on Britain’s most expensive street

Ilchester Place in London’s Holland Park may be the most expensive residential street in Britain - but it’s cheaper than a year ago.

Average prices on the road are £1.1m down on late 2017 thanks to the capital’s ongoing Brexit worries; even so Lloyds Bank has identified the street as the most expensive, with homes costing an average of £15.6m.

Lloyds, which compiled the research using Land Registry data, says every region of England has at least one ‘million pound street’ where the average home is valued at £1m or more.

In Scotland the most expensive street is Golf Place in St Andrews with an average price of £1,975,000 while the most expensive in Wales is Llys Helyg Drive in Llandudno where homes cost £1,121,000.

Andrew Mason, mortgage director at Lloyds Bank, says: "The prime London boroughs of Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea continue to top the tables in Britain’s most expensive streets.

"Seven addresses in these two areas alone come with an average price tag of more than £11 million, and three cost more than £13 million.

“Although half of the 20 most expensive streets are in London, regions across England and Wales now all have at least one ‘million pound street’."

Meanwhile Ricky Diggins, director at Bank of Scotland, adds: “It’s no surprise that the capital dominates the majority of the top spots, particularly given the average house price continues to be among the highest in the country.

“[But] For the second consecutive year, no location in Scotland is on a par with St Andrews when it comes to the country’s most prestigious addresses.

“It’s good to see a new entry from Glasgow, creating four of the most expensive streets in the city, and not just in the traditionally expensive West End.”

Here are the 20 most expensive streets identified by Lloyds in England and Wales:
