32 years on, search underway for body of Suzy Lamplugh

Police have confirmed that a search is taking place at a property in the Midlands, in the hunt for the body of Suzy Lamplugh.

Estate agent Suzy was 25 when she disappeared in July 1986 after going to meet a client in Fulham in London.

She worked at Sturgis and Sons agency and was on an appointment to show a viewer - known as Mr Kipper - around a property.

She was presumed murdered and declared dead in 1994 but her body has never been found, despite many tip-offs and searches.

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed premises in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham, are being searched.

No one has ever been charged in connection with Suzy’s murder but in 2002 police named the convicted killer John Cannan as a suspect.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, a workplace safety charity, was set up by Suzy’s father Paul and his wife Diana in Suzy’s memory in 1986. Both received OBEs for their work; Diana passed away six years ago and Paul died earlier this year..

The trust has been involved in a series of highly-respected initiatives, many of them aimed at improving the safety of lone female workers.
