Another regional chain says it's sceptical of online agency popularity

A senior figure in another regional estate agency group has expressed scepticism about the popularity of online choices for vendors.

Last week Arun Estates, which has four major High Street brands in parts of the south of England, made clear that it was not going down the online route because it could not see a way of making it profitable.

Now Tim Waring, director at Dacre, Son and Hartley estate agency chain in Yorkshire, says the majority of buyers and sellers alike don’t buy the online option.

“There are a number of online-only estate agents but it is our belief that the majority of buyers and sellers recognise the benefits of using a full service estate agent” he tells the Yorkshire Post.

Key for success, he says, is a a High Street presence, strong local knowledge, and  comprehensive online reach via a website and portals.

“As a result, we’ll be expanding our office network further in 2018 with a new office in Elland” says Waring, who also makes a commitment to invest in technology to complement the traditional agency model.

Dacre, Son & Hartley has 21 offices across Yorkshire and handles commercial and agricultural properties and surveying services, as well as residential sales and lettings.
