New research has revealed that Britain's impending exit from the European Union is not a consideration for 71% of consumers.
A study carried out by Opinium on behalf of Mortgage Advice Bureau over the summer found that 65% of prospective movers see family and employment opportunities as the main motivation behind moving.
Those surveyed aged 25-34 were most likely to be unaffected by Brexit, with 38% of the same age range citing a growing family as the reason for their move.
The study also questioned consumers on their attitudes towards house prices.
Some 30% said they expect house prices to fall over the next 12 months, while 29% expect property prices to rise as a result of the UK leaving the EU.
"[This] is perhaps surprising news for those who may want to paint a pessimistic picture of the current UK housing market,” says Brian Murphy, Mortgage Advice Bureau's head of lending.
"For most, a home move is driven primarily by personal circumstances rather than economics or politics."
"Overall, homeowners who are motivated to move are not being swayed by the political negotiations, with consumer confidence in property seemingly still high,” he says.
