Agency allows clients to make appointments directly in staff diaries

Estate agency James Pendleton says it wants to give its clients more digital advantages without becoming an online operation itself - so now it is allowing people to make appointments directly in staff diaries.

The agency has launched what is describes as “an end-to-end online service” allowing buyers and vendors to book viewings and valuations immediately.

The agency - which has 10 offices across the capital - says the move is a bid to “ take the fight to online-only agents and add value for a new generation of clients who like the ease of online but still value experience, service and local knowledge.”

So clients will now have the power to insert viewings and valuations directly into the diary of the relevant consultant; access will be live for 24 hours a day but buyers and vendors will not be able to ‘double book’.

The firm’s consultants will manage open house events on certain properties when required by limiting the availability of bookings to a single day.

The company is also introducing a feature allowing vendors to get what it calls “a robo-valuation” of their home on the website which is fine-tuned when a consultant visits. The firm is using the ValPal automated valuation tool, a product of Angels Media, publisher of Estate Agent Today.

“Online-only agents have been shaking up the property world in recent years but they can’t compete on service. This innovation places us at the industry’s leading edge. End-to-end online bookings for valuations and viewings represents a significant investment for us as a boutique firm that makes it easy and hassle free to deal through us” explains Lucy Pendleton, founder and director of the agency.

“We think experienced buyers and sellers want the best of both worlds and that’s what we now offer them. We are combining the ease of online with added value where it matters."
