Purplebricks lands another developer deal to sell new-builds

Purplebricks has landed a deal to sell new-build homes, an activity previously done usually directly by developers or traditional high street estate agents.

The deal - which Purplebricks says is not its first in the sector - is to market a Manchester development, with “plenty in the pipeline” from the same builder.

The Blackmore Group, a development firm, is using the agency to market what it describes as “nine high-end, two bedroom apartments” in the residential conversion of church buildings in Cheadle Heath.

The Blackmore Group’s managing director, Patrick McCreesh, told regional business website Huddled that he chose Purplebricks because of the fairness, transparency and convenience it offers customers.

In a statement McCreesh says: “We chose Purplebricks because it operates 24/7 and their service is incredibly popular with consumers. The Blackmore Group are pleased to be marketing this scheme with Purplebricks and building a relationship that will accelerate the growth of both companies, with plenty of developments in the pipeline over the next few months. It’s the start of a great partnership.”

Stuart Richards, a spokesman for Purplebricks, told the publication: “We’re delighted to be working with the Blackmore Group on this prestigious development. Independent research from Which? shows that on average, hybrid estate agents sell properties 38 days faster than their traditional counterparts and we’re sure these homes will sell even quicker, because they are just so stunning.”

    Really ???? not because of their inability to follow chains, update clients or keep anyone involved when a house is sold.
    I feel this is more likely due to the fact Patrick McCreesh that they are cheap and your business model just needs a marketing platform as opposed to a professional service
    All I can say is keep a close eye on them, follow up everything yourself and when a house does sell don't bother letting them get involved

    Oh dear! Someone's a little bitter. If they weren't a professional service I don't think they would be where they are today. Try come up with a better argument

    They paying up front for each property..? If not that wouldn't be very transparent...

    Good luck Patrick. From someone with years of corporate asset management sales and new homes in particular, your teams will enjoy trying to get through to anyone regarding sale progression (try at least 4 times before you get frustrated), tricky one when New Home Sales deadlines, half year end targets, build timetables and sale chains all need to be managed properly......developers are no ordinary customer who use a service once and takes a gamble on service over fee....cut throat industry for suppliers, you need to be at your best and get it right, first time and every time..but then I guess the PR machine at PB will skim over this!

    The funny part is you really think Purple Bricks won't have the best new homes team money can buy with the endless pot of money they have? Or the fact they will make sure they will have probably the most knowledgable people in the country helping them develop it? Naive if you think otherwise

    Oh... so your one maybe two experiences in a little town near Stafford with purple Bricks means you have the knowledge to judge the whole company?! No

    Well thanks for taking the time to bother finding out where I am based. Im flattered- l'll keep my little market in Stafford and continue to judge on my own experience and that of my clients. Every company is based on their weakest link and this is definateky their weakest link

    So PB lists 9 new build apartments? Is it possible to exaggerate the grand scale of this 'deal' to a larger degree?

    I wonder, if mentioned above, if the fees were all paid upfront, whether PB will be doing the viewings or whether this will extra?

    But Just Village is right, I would assume PB would have the resources to pay special attention to this lucrative partnership, its just the poor old traditional home owner who gets ignored

    Having 20 Years experience selling homes working for both corporate and independent, and knowing how aggressive new homes companies can be demanding 28 days to exchanges with daily calls threatening to pull out I would agree with JG. I have sold 3 properties recently with call centre agents and the sales progression from PB and in fairness other is a joke. We always end up doing the sales progression for them or we risk our clients not moving at all. There is only one thing worse than a call centre expert and that’s a call centre expert using there recommended call centre conveyancer. Time will tell but I think this developer will lose his rag rather quickly and it’s going to be hard to find development opportunities when he has just put himself at the back of the Que with High Street agents.
    There is a market for call centre agents the same way we used to have ‘Sale by Owner’ in the back of the paper and with the internet I think they are here to stay but I don’t think this is a market for that set up. Time will tell
