Ombudsman issues 'year-long warning' after complaint about agency

The Property Ombudsman has issued a year-long formal warning to consumers about an estate agency which failed to provide information concerning a consumer complaint.

Purfect Property Solutions Ltd, an agency in Aylesbury, was investigated by TPO following a complaint made by the landlords of the property concerned.

The landlords approached TPO after they were unable to resolve a dispute with the agent.

The Ombudsman supported the complaint and the award was paid but the case was referred to the scheme’s Disciplinary & Standards Committee which concluded that Purfect Properties Solutions Limited should be the subject of a warning to last one year.

This was because the agency failed to provide information as the Ombudsman had directed, or any written assurance that the agency would in future co-operate with the Ombudsman and comply in full with the Ombudsman’s decisions.

The agent’s website suggests the agency is actively trading and advertising properties for sale and to rent.

A statement from TPO says: “Consumers are hereby warned about the firm’s conduct as a result of their failure to comply with the Ombudsman’s instructions outlined above.”

No particular comment on this case, but it's about time someone regulated the TPO for lettings! If they had their way they would bog agents down in paperwork just to support their own existence. If it hasn't hit you yet, the new trend is for tenants to say "give in to my demands or I'll just complain to the TPO and bog you down for the hell of it".....so they do...
