The National Association of Estate Agents says its election for a new vice president is to go ahead as scheduled despite a protest from outspoken member Chris Wood.
Last week Wood - an agent based in Cornwall, running the PDQ agency - tweeted a number of property journalists, including EAT editor Graham Norwood, saying that “there are unanswered election irregularities and a formal request to halt the election has been called, pending an investiation.”
However, the NAEA has let it be known that there will be no change to the scheduled election.
Polling closes on June 14 with the new vice president likely to be announced soon afterwards; Wood was amongst a number of prospective candidates putting themselves forward, but he was excluded from the ballot after a panel interview.
The association says to members on its website: “This is your chance to elect an ambassador for NAEA Propertymark and a leading figure in the residential sale property sector, who will represent your association over the next three years.
This opportunity allows you to shape your organisation and to have your voice heard.”
It goes on to says that” the vice president's role is to support the president and the president elect, and to help form the strategic direction of the organisation at this crucial point in our history.”
Wood has been an outspoken critic of Purplebricks and a long-standing campaigner against portal juggling.
