Luxury global estate agency Sotheby's International Realty has expanded its operation in Italy.
The firm has opened a new office in the Lake Garda region which will complement its branches in Milan, Rome, Florence, Como and Turin.
The new office will focus on marketing high-end properties in exclusive locations. It will be run by Elena Losio.
Lake Garda, which is situated in northern Italy, not far from Venice, is a popular destination for international buyers looking for holiday homes.
Italy Sotheby's International Realty says that a third of enquiries it receives in the area are from prospective British buyers.
In recent times, the area has also attracted more interest from Russia and Eastern Europe alongside traditionally high activity from German and American investors.
“The opening of the office in Desenzano takes place during a very encouraging time for the Italian real estate market," explains Clemente Pignatti Morano, managing partner of Italy Sotheby’s International Realty.
"In 2016 over one million properties were sold across the country; this figure has not been seen since 2011, and reveals an increase of 18.9% in residential sales compared to the previous year."
The Sotheby's International Realty global network now has more than 20,000 independent sales associates located in approximately 880 offices across almost 70 countries.
