Vendor to cut asking price by £1,000 a week until flat sells

The vendor of a retirement apartment in the West Midlands says he is going to reduce the asking price by £1,000 each week until it is sold.

“It is already very competitively priced at £145,000 but if it means I have to sell at well below market value then I am willing to accept that. I have come close to selling the property on a number of occasions, but close isn’t really good enough” explains John Parker, whose two bedroom home property is in the village of Womborne.

Estate agency DB Roberts is advertising the home by suggesting it is such good value it is like getting two properties for the price of one.

In a recent advertisement the agent said the apartment was “even better value compared to the one bedroom units, sales of which over the past 18 months have ranged from £150,000 to £174,000.”

The advert states: “Wombrook Court is a retirement complex for occupants of age 60 and over set in communal gardens with car parking. It offers a residents’ lounge and an onsite development manager as well as an emergency call system. The property is in a secluded spot away from the road and has good sized rooms to include the two bedrooms, a living room with Juliette balcony, a bathroom and kitchen. The development is in a convenient location...it is just a short walk to all local amenities.”
