Ex-Countrywide ex-Connells technology guru lands new role

One of the estate agency industry’s leading technology figures has been appointed to a key role in a major global property consultancy.

Alex Bailes is to become head of product engineering at CBRE.

Bailes co-founded a PropTech company in 1999 which was acquired by Countrywide in 2005; at Countrywide he held the position of chief digital officer until 2015.

Most recently he was head of digital for Connells Group.

Bailes is one of the creators of the growing PropTech sector and is a mentor at the start-up company PiLabs with which CBRE has an established strategic relationship.

In his new role he will be responsible for product delivery across the UK as well as software engineering across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“I’m excited to join CBRE and help build on the innovative collaborations which are already in place. There are many exciting technologies in the pipeline and I look forward to employing the best and most efficient products across Europe, the Middle East and Africa” he says.
