Quick Sale company in hot water over website 'offer'

The Advertising Standards Authority has stepped in following a complaint about a TV ad for a Quick Sale company, National Homebuyers.

The ASA says the advertisement showed a cartoon man in a superhero outfit outside a house saying: "Are you trying to sell your property? At National Homebuyers we guarantee to say yes to buying your home".

There was supplementary on-screen text stating: "Valuation fees payable. Any offer made will be below actual market value. T&Cs apply".

The ad ended with a screen showing the website address, telephone number and the text: "Get your offer now!"

A viewer, who entered his postcode and basic details on the website but who was told that National Homebuyers would need to speak to him before being able to issue a quote, challenged whether the "Get your offer now" claim was accurate, given that the general implication was that enquirers would receive a quote straightaway after giving their post code, was misleading.

National Homebuyers has amended the ad to remove the claim and replace it with "Call now to get your offer".

The matter was categorised by the ASA as being informally resolved.
