Slow progress for crowdfund appeal to mount legal fight over Purplebricks

The crowdfunding appeal by review website AllAgents to mount possible legal action against Purplebricks appears to be making relatively slow progress.

As of early this morning some 49 contributors has pledged just above £8,000 to the appeal - meaning that with 36 days left from today, very nearly £42,000 more has to be raised.

Experts suggest that a spurt of activity in the first week or so of an appeal is usually followed by a slower response late until shortly before the closing date for the funds, at which point contributions rise slightly again.

At the time of writing there has been one pledge of £1,000 and another of £500, some at £200 and £100, and many at smaller sums - including one for £5 from a ‘Michael Bruce’, no doubt trolling the Purplebricks chief executive who has the same name.

The fund-raising follows a spat between AllAgents and Purplebricks.

The reviews website accuses Purplebricks of “suppressing customers reviews on our website” by disputing some negative reviews of the hybrid agency.

Meanwhile Purplebricks has claimed that it has repeatedly, but unsuccessfully, asked for information from AllAgents to prove the authenticity, or otherwise, of the reviews.
