Rightmove marketing chief named one of 1,000 top Londoners

The head of marketing at Rightmove has been named as one of London’s most influential people - a sign of the increasing power wielded by portals.

The London Evening Standard newspaper annually publishes a list of its 1,000 most influential Londoners - referring to those who work or live in London, as well as those who originate from the capital.

In the Building and Design category comes Iain Kennedy, Rightmove’s head of marketing.

His entry reads: ‘Though it feels as if we’ve always searched property online, Rightmove only began in 2000. It now has four million visits a day and more than a million properties to buy or rent. Iain Kennedy, who joined in 2014 after a career promoting Scotch whisky worldwide, wants people “to enjoy themselves and come back. We have way more properties than anyone else. Forbes called us the most innovative growth company for 2017.”’

There is no standalone property industry category in the awards.

This year, for the first time, the winners were personally endorsed by new Evening Standard editor George Osborne and London mayor Sadiq Khan.
