Former Countrywide agent moves into property staging business

A former estate agent has teamed up with two interiors experts to offer a home staging rental service to dress properties for sale or to let.

Marina Collett, a former associate director at the Kensington office of Countrywide-owned John D Wood, is now involved with The Property Service, which has expanded its design and furnishings division to move into home staging.

“In a market where buyers and tenants are only prepared to pay more if the quality is worth it, it made sense to combine our knowledge so that we can provide them with the high level of service they expect. ... Unfurnished properties or a small space can make it hard for people to imagine what it would be like to live there, whilst a tired looking home can portray lower quality. Often, the price is reduced as a result in order to appeal to a wider audience” says Collett.

TPS rents out furniture to clients for a minimum two-month rental which can be extended on a weekly rolling basis; the eventual buyers can purchase the furniture if they wish to.

TPS can also buy furniture for investors who don’t have the time to purchase themselves.

Collett’s colleagues in the business are Vanessa Reeves - another former agent - and former lettings sector professional Nicky Copeman.
