Purplebricks expanding again in Australia

Purplebricks, which launched in Australia last August, is expanding its service in the country.

It already operates in Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, Sydney and parts of the Central Coast. Now plans are afoot to move into Perth and Adelaide too.

Business website Sharecast quotes Purplebricks chief executive Michael Bruce saying that the company has already delivered an estimated $1.7m in savings to Australian vendors.

"We are confident that our proven success in auction and private treaty sales in the country is setting us apart from traditional real estate offerings and will make a substantial and positive difference for homeowners across Australia" he says.

Australian Purplebricks charges sellers a flat fee of $4,500 (about £2,800 given the current low level of Sterling) - more expensive than in the UK, notwithstanding exchange rates, but still substantially cheaper than the average traditional agency fee in Australia.

Yesterday Purplebricks announced that TV property show presenter Amanda Lamb had been recruited for the next phase of its UK ‘Commisery’ advertising campaign.
