Agents now able to create chains on conveyancing portal

A conveyancing portal has announced the release of new functionality which allows estate agents to create chains in its system.

The 'Estate Agent Chain Creator' has been developed by Free2Convey and is a free service.

Free2Convey claims to be the UK's first portal to provide agents, clients and conveyancers with free real time access to chain status information.

“Once the agent has added the chain information, they send an invitation directly from the portal to the conveyancers in the chain, which asks them to join and update chain information," explains Matt Lancaster, one of the portal's founding partners.

He says that this allows everyone involved to have real time access to chain status updates, creating a two-way flow of information.

The functionality provides immediate address validation as it incorporates the Land Registry's title number search facility. The portal says that this feature aims to avoid errors and ambiguity.

Those behind Free2Convey have also recently launched Docs4Home - a service which allows all parties involved in a conveyancing case to collaborate on relevant documents in a secure environment.

“Docs4Home enables the upload of the Replies to Requisitions on Title which contain the seller’s conveyancer’s client account details," adds Lancaster.

"This would avoid the risk of redirection of completion monies by fraudsters intercepting bank details sent by email, which is something that’s on the increase.”
