Stronger-than-expected market in August, says board company

New data released from Agency Express suggests an unexpectedly strong month for sale in August. 

Figures for properties ‘Sold’ bucked the seasonal trend to sit at 2.8 per cent, a record best outcome for the month. In contrast, figures for new ‘For Sale’ listings were hit by the summer, down 4.4 per cent. 

Eight of the 12 regions recorded by Agency Express showed increases in properties ‘Sold’ but only two recorded increases in new listings ‘For Sale’.

The regions recording the largest month on month ‘Sold’ increases included a 15.2 per cent rise in Scotland and 15.7 per cent rise in north east England. 

In listings ‘For Sale’ rises were in Scotland (up 11 per cent) and the East Midlands (rising a tiny 0.7 per cent).

The largest declines recorded were in London. Falling for a second consecutive month, new listings in the capital were down 16.7 per cent and properties ‘Sold’ down -4.6 per cent.
