Agency to open new branch with dedicated 'VR Zone'

A Nottingham estate agency is set to open its fourth branch with a dedicated 'VR Zone'.

Walton & Allen is holding an event to mark the opening of its Mansfield office this Saturday when it aims to show off its 'unique experience'.

The firm, which is only two years old, has already claimed to be one of the first agencies to pioneer virtual reality technology for all of its properties.

All Walton & Allen's branches have an 'iLounge area' where visitors can view properties on a large touchscreen, browsing images, floor plans and property brochures.

The VR Zone allows customers to view properties through virtual reality goggles from the agent's office.

"Our offices are very different to your normal estate agents, we do things a little different[ly]," the firm's director, Philip Williams told The Mansfield and Ashfield Chad.

"I suppose the first thing people comment on are our offices themselves and their unique design and layout."

"Virtual reality has given us national newspaper exposure and has taken off massively," he said.

Williams describes virtual reality as a 'new and innovative' way to view property.

Surprised the industry hasnt embraced 360 video and VR

    Fake Agent

These things take time. Slowly but surely it will be embraced by more and more agents, like the internet, social media and portals, until it becomes the accepted norm. Some will never embrace it, but most will. As always, it won't replace what is already there, but it will enhance it, making the service offered by agents more in-touch with the modern world.

VR and 360 videos would appear to be the future, but there is a lot happening with PropTech at the moment, with a considerable buzz around this movement. How mainstream these things become is less clear-cut, but I don't think PropTech is something that can be written off as a short-term fad - it's merely a way of taking the best tech and using it to provide solutions for agents.
