EweMove, which describes itself as the UK’s first hybrid estate agency, claims it has seen completions over the past two months soar by 56 per cent over the same period last year.
Glenn Ackroyd, co-founder and self-styled ‘Head Shepherd’ at EweMove says the increased business for his firm confounds Brexit pessimists and goes against the trend of some large traditional agencies - including Countrywide and Foxtons - which earlier this year issued profit warnings.
“Whilst some agencies have undoubtedly been hit by this resultant uncertainty, our latest figures show that for us this is absolutely to the contrary. We’ve seen a continued confidence amongst both buyers and sellers, and an overall buoyant housing market – showcased by the number of completions across our branch network increasing phenomenally over the past 12 months, with the last few weeks in particular being better than ever” insists Ackroyd.
“We focus on tracking, monitoring and reporting on the number of property completions we achieve, and not solely the number of listings. After all, anyone can ‘list’ a property, but a seller cares about when and for how much their property is going to be sold” he says.
The agency’s figures for its 94 branches across the UK come a day after YOPA, another hybrid firm, claim that its had seen instructions increase five-fold since February and valuations quadruple since the start of the year.
