Buyer numbers remain broadly unchanged but some sellers are withdrawing their homes from the market accoding to the chief executive of online agency easyProperty.
Rob Ellice says: “We are seeing sellers become a little nervous with some stock coming off the market. Throughout the past week, we have seen the number of enquiries to list properties drop but the number of buyers is unchanged.”
Ellice’s comments are the latest from estate agents on how Brexit may be affecting the housing market.
Last week Ellice caused controversy when he welcomed a call from the Labour MP for Dulwich and West Norwood, Helen Hayes, for letting agent fees to be capped.
Ellice supported her demand for “a more transparent and fair service to tenants throughout the UK” - which she backed up by presenting a petition to the House of Commons.
At the time Ellice said: “We surveyed 1,000 renters through the UK and our findings show 51.4% of private renters believe letting fees are extortionate and a further 39% believe they are expensive.

Important not to forget seasonality I think. Summer holidays coming up. It's too late to buy/sell now if you want to move before the new school year. Let's wait and see what happens in September.
