Agency stamps its identity on community by buying its Post Office

An estate agency is buying a Post Office - and keeping it in operation as a service to the local community.

A message on the website of Bristol and Somerset agency Goodman & Lilley says: “We are delighted to announce our recent takeover in the ownership of the Port Marine Post Office. Working in partnership with the Royal Mail, the shop’s main focus is to remain as a fully operational, trading Post Office within the heart of the Port Maine, and was purchased to show our commitment to the community.”

It is not yet known if the shop will also serve as an agency branch, or as a vehicle for advertising properties on sale and to let.

“We’re delighted to be able to set out our strategy right from the start with a strong public purpose. So if you’re passing, please pop in and say hello to [post office staff] Vicky and Jo who remain at the helm, and who are both already familiar faces to local residents” continues the message on the agency website.
