Agency claims to be largest independent in London after latest acquisitions

Dexters says it now has 60 offices including 28 in central London - and has declared itself to be "the leading independent agency across London.

The first office opened in 1993 in Twickenham and the business has grown from 16 to over 60 branches across London; this includes the recently acquired and rebranded 28 offices of other smaller independents such as Beaney Pearce in Chelsea and Brian Lack in St John's Wood as well as establishing new offices in the City and Docklands.

The firm claims to have had £100m invested in it over the past eight years and says it has achieved consistent annual growth of 26 per cent in that period. It has a turnover in the region of £70m and states it "will record an operating profit of £15m in 2016.”

It employs some 1,200 people, sells 3,000 properties annually  and has over 20,000 London landlords as clients. The firm says it spends 10 times the industry average on staff training.

Interesting to see them step out from the shadows at last. They have been acquiring local independents at quite a pace of late. Another Super Agent on the rise- you have to wonder how many truly independent agents will be left in a few years time!?

  • Owen Nato

The answer is zero! sadly. I think independents offer that personal local touch that corporates seem to ignore and at the end of it all, it just leaves the door wide open for online estate agents to capitalise. At the end of the day its a people business.

We are a Your Move Franchise, and having worked for Corporates twice it is the only way for an independent agent to keep some semblance of its' identity and working practice. It is not perfect by any means, but it gives you an umbrelle to work under without most of the Corporate ridiculousness.
