Unexpectedly strong sales market figures from board company

The latest data from board supplier Agency Express suggests November was a surprisingly buoyant month for the housing market, with only a marginal decline in national activity.

“During November we traditionally see a slowdown in activity as we head towards the Christmas period. However, this month figures saw an unseasonal spike” says a spokesman.

New listings ‘For Sale’ were down only 4.7 per cent last month (compared to a drop of 12.2 per cent in the same month of 2015) while properties ‘Sold’ were down a mere 1.8 per cent last month (contrasting with 14.7 per cent down in 2015).

Across the rest of the UK the trend continued with 11 of Agency Express’ 12 data regions reporting robust figures.

The month’s top performing region was East Anglia. Figures for new listings ‘For Sale’ showed a growth of 0.4 per cent and properties ‘Sold ’up 2.4 per cent - the best ever recorded by that region during a November.

Other regions to buck the seasonal trend on properties ‘Sold’ were the North East (up no less than 24.3 per cent) and Scotland (with growth of 6.9 per cent).

The only region to record a month on month decline in November’s index was Wales. New listings ‘For Sale’ sat down 14.8 per cent while properties ‘Sold’ were down 3.2 per cent.
