Imprisoned estate agent to return to court for financial hearing

It has been revealed that an estate agent who is serving a five year prison sentence for fraud is to return to court in the spring for a proceeds of crime hearing.

In April Estate Agent Today reported that estate agent Donald Scott, who ran Donald Scott Land and Estate Agents, was jailed for taking more than £450,000 from elderly clients in Cumbria. He was described as "devious and selfish" by a judge, who said he abused his position of trust to take money from his customers to pay off his own debts.

Scott admitted 13 charges of fraud.

His crimes took place between 2010 and 2015 and included forging signatures to sell off his clients' land entitlements and keep the profit for himself.

Now the News and Star website says Scott will appear in court next April as the Crown Prosecution Service seeks to recoup some of the money from Scott’s assets under proceeds of crime legislation.
