Commercial and industrial agency goes into residential sales and lets

A commercial and industrial property agency in Manchester has launched a residential sales and lettings business.

Founded in 1999 and based in Manchester city centre, Haughton Warburton has been a prominent commercial operator but now says “client demand” lies behind its expansion into residential.

“We found that purchaser clients were re-developing existing buildings and land for the residential market and looking for a suitable residential sale and lettings partners to work with” explains Tim Haughton, one of the partners of Haughton Warburton Residential.

The firm also has Nick Haughton, Mark Warburton and Grant Gurnsey as founders and employs a staff of eight.

“The advent of internet advertising and the likes of sites like Rightmove, has seen the traditional estate and letting agency changed beyond belief. The proximity of your office to your potential marketplace has become less relevant and the manner in which you deal with clients has changed significantly as a result” explains Tim Haughton.

“The business has become much less face to face and much more phone and email based. We offer a much greater degree of personal interaction with our clients and are passionate about our accessibility and our service” he says.

EA's should be aware of the risks in recommending solicitors and conveyancers in transactions. The recent strike off of Chelmsford property lawyer Mike Alexander for multiple counts of dishonesty serves as a warning to us all. If we recommended dishonest people like Alexander then we put ourselves and our employers at risk.
