OnTheMarket secures 10m visits in September but unspecified leads

OnTheMarket says it provided “a record number of leads” to its agent members in September - but is not disclosing how many.

It says it also achieved a record number of 10m visits in the month of September, which it says is 79 per cent up on the September 2015 figure.

However, its press release says: “Throughout last month, the portal also delivered a record number of leads to agents” but does not give a figure.

Estate Agent Today has requested the information but a spokeswoman for the portal has responded: "We're not releasing that figure."

In the official statement, OTM chief executive Ian Springett says: “This latest record achievement for traffic is another sign of just how much progress OnTheMarket has made throughout 2016. Since January, we have significantly grown the overall number of offices listing on the website ranging from many high-profile, multi-branch firms to a large number of smaller independent agents.  OnTheMarket has proved that it is thriving and continues to grow".

OTM's figures are sourced from Google Analytics.

In the summer Rightmove announced that during the first half of 2016 alone it received a record 765 million visits; last month Zoopla announced that its UK agency members had grown in number for 16 consecutive months and stood at 13,275 as at August 31, up five per cent year-on-year.

Last Friday saw the latest deadline for OTM to pay a sum into court in connection with its ongoing legal battle against Gascoigne Halman and Moginie James.

79% rise between Sept 2015 and 2016 is pretty huge....shows traffic this time last year was very lowly though.

"OnTheMarket says it provided “a record number of leads” to its agent members in September - but is not disclosing how many."

    Convenient?

"It says it also achieved a record number of 10m visits in the month of September"

Sounds impressive, until you read this.

"In the summer Rightmove announced that during the first half of 2016 alone it received a record 765 million visits"

Which means Rightmove had an average of 127.5 million hits per month. Just slightly dwarfs OTM's figures.

I also find it strange that they won't reveal how many actual leads it has provided. If it's a record number, shout about it. Why so coy? Not revealing the figure just makes cynical folk like me even more cynical. Instead of adding mystery, it just adds scepticism.

"We're performing really well, you know. Really, really well."
    "How well?"
    "We can't tell you that."
    "But."
"We're doing really, really well. That's all you need to know. Actual figures aren't needed, trust us."

If EAT could please update the article to show a room full of 100 people in an office in Delhi hitting refresh on the OTM homepage it would help with the accuracy of the story. Perhaps an interview with one of the local refreshers talking about his RSI pains vs the increase in traffic having the same correlation.

I think your comments are indeed not only amusing but sadly accurate!!

Ian Springett seems to be rather stupid when it comes to revealing where OTM realy is, its quite obvious that they only provide headline figures, was it not 9 months ago they were due to hit the 7500 offices to sucker in evryone that had signed letters of intent, I bet they are all rather pleased that didnt happen, I spoke to a director of a smal group who are regretting joining OTM he said it is a total smambles and no one is adressing the real issue of pathetic leads volume, thats why they dont want to release figures! refresh, refresh, refresh
