Simon Cowell goes the X-tra mile for singing online estate agent

There's good news for online estate agency easyProperty - although it has nothing to do with selling or letting homes, upfront fees or the alleged demise of high street agents.

Instead, the good news is about music - Holly Johnson, the agency's head of business development, happens to be one of the hopefuls in ITV's X Factor 2015.

At the latest stage of the competition Holly was on the verge of being booted out of boot camp, the training regime which contestants go through before being chosen (or not) to progress to the live stages of the competition.

She was told by Simon Cowell - who with Cheryl Fernandez Versini, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora makes up the judging panel - that she wasn't good enough to go through to the 'Six Chair Challenge' stage of the competition. 

This was despite what some of the judges believed to be a fine rendition of a Sam Smith song.

But after protests from his colleagues, led by Rita Ora, Cowell asked to see Holly again. 

Cowell then turned from lion to pussycat when he said: "I could see on your face you thought how could I do any more. I want to own up to the fact we made a mistake."

And with that, Holly progressed to the next stage...
