Agents Do Charity - as summer takes hold

As the summer holidays near, we’re continuing to publicise the side of estate agency that rarely presents itself to the public - the fund-raising, warm-hearted work for charity.

We’ll gladly publicise your efforts if you let us know on press@estateagenttoday.co.uk. In the meantime, best foot forward for this week’s heroic fund-raisers...

Kidneys For Life/Mummy’s Star: The team at Miller Metcalfe Estate Agents at Bolton, Chorley, Leigh, Salford and the Greater Manchester area will be taking to two wheels this weekend to raise funds for Kidneys For Life, a charity that supplies essential equipment for kidney disease patients. The 18 riders from each of the nine Miller Metcalfe branches will cycle 126 gruelling miles along the Liverpool to Leeds canal to raise funds for the charity.

Half of all the money raised will be donated to another charity close to the Miller Metcalfe team’s hearts, Mummy’s Star - the only UK charity dedicated to supporting women and families affected by cancer during pregnancy or within the first year after giving birth. They offer practical and emotional help and assistance to cancer patients managing the disease and families who lose their female partner or parent to the illness.

The Miller Metcalfe team has set up a Virgin Money Giving account for anyone looking to donate to the charities in support of their efforts - visit https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/MillerMetcalfe for more information.

Hookstone Chase Primary School Parent Teachers Association: The Harrogate branch of Manning Stainton is pushing the bed out this summer in support of a local school. It’s competing in the Great Knaresborough Bed Race this weekend to raise money on behalf of the, to help with the purchase of a new playground. Branch Manager Ben Furnell and his colleagues hope to raise at least £1,000 to go towards the school’s initial target of £10,000 for the first phase of work.

For anyone wishing to donate the firm has set up a ‘just giving page’ at https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/hookstoneprimaryplayground.

Manning Stainton’s support of local clubs, youth organisations and the wider community was recognised at the 2014 Estate Agency of the Year Awards when the firm collected the award for Corporate Social Responsibility. Last year the firm donated nearly £100,000 to good causes.

Rainbows Hospice For Children & Young People in Loughborough and St Giles Hospice near Lichfield: By day Paul Barnes and Nick Pollitt are two of John German’s finest property valuers but by night they could give Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg a run for their money - even if they would have to give second best to Leis Hamilton.

As part of the John German 175th anniversary celebrations, Paul and Nick took the firm’s generous guests for white knuckle laps around Donington Park in super-fast Caterham cars. And to make the charity evening better, Nicholas Hamilton (Lewis’s younger brother who races in the British Touring Car Championship) was next door and posed for pictures with the team.

The event has helped raise an £2,755 with donations still coming in. For more information about John German’s fund-raising this year visit www.johngerman175.co.uk
