New figures at top of two estate agency groups

Two of the UK’s largest agency groupings have announced new senior appointments.

Martin & Co PLC, one of the UK's largest property franchises, has appointed Phil Crooks as a non-executive director and chair of the Audit Committee.

Crooks is currently a partner in Forensic and Investigations Services at Grant Thornton UK LLP having previously been the consultancy’s head of audit for six years and a member of the International Assurance Advisory Board at Grant Thornton.

Martin & Co, which floated 18 months ago, has 282 branches and has stated that it wishes to reach 300 by the end of 2015. It is already the UK’s fourth largest agency behind Countrywide, LSL Property Services and Connells.

Meanwhile in Scotland there is a new chief executive for GSPC Property, formerly known as the Glasgow Solicitors Property Centre.

Mark Hordern, CEO for the past four years, is standing down to become chief executive at Pacitti Jones - a GSPC member which operates estate agency as well as legal services. He is being succeeded by Pamela Jones, who has been with GSPC for 13 years already.

GSPC has 147 member firms.
