High-end agents dominate RESI 2015 awards

High-end brands dominated the agency section of the RESI 2015 awards, presented by Pointless host Alexander Armstrong at the Grosvenor House hotel on London’s Park Lane.

It was a double for Knight Frank, winning both the Residential Agency of the Year and Letting Agency of the Year awards, with Countrywide being accorded Highly Commended status in the lettings category.

Savills was named as UK Sales Agency of the Year, with CBRE winning Highly Commended. Savills also won Residential Consultancy Practice of the Year, with Deloitte Real Estate winning Highly Commended.

International Sales Agency of the Year went to JLL. Asset Manager of the Year went to Grainger and Student Accommodation Operator of the Year was Unite Students.

Privately owned Landlord of the Year was Get Living London. Development of the Year was awarded to Ballymore’s London Royal Wharf.

Were only high-end brands invited? A clean sweep from Knight Frank and Savills - what a surprise!

Still, Alexander Armstrong might have made the super-rich love-in bearable.

Is that a whole portion of chips on your shoulder, Rob? You couldn't sound more bitter if you tried.

@Kelly Evans - not bitter, just a realist.

  • Fake Agent

Savills have an unfairly bad reputation. For some reason, they seem as hated as Foxtons. Maybe it's because they're really successful.

There's also this perception that Savills only deal in high-end areas. Estate agency is only part of what they do, and they don't deserve the hate they seem to get from people bashing them as enablers of the super-rich.

It's not the fault of Savills, Foxtons or Knight Frank for the influx of wealthy overseas investors. We need to look closer to home for that. If the government and Boris are going to roll out the red carpet for billionaires and oligarchs, these high-end agents can't be criticised for taking advantage of that.
