Another 23 branches acquired by Hunters

Hunters has added another 23 franchised offices to its empire with the acquisition of Home Counties estate and letting agency Country Properties.

Country Properties was founded in 1974 in Hitchin and under managing director Ian Wilson it established strongholds in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

“The acquisition allows Hunters to expand our presence and reach into new areas. The majority of the Country Properties branches are in the top three for market share for sales and several hold the top spot” says Hunters managing director Glynis Frew.

The 23 Country Properties operations will continue to be managed by Ian Wilson.

Hunters opened its first office in York in April 1992. Last year the network grew by 37 new locations and the number of Hunters branches now stands at 157, with divisions handling sales, lettings, auctions, surveys and franchising.

Earlier this month, Hunters’ founder Kevin Hollinrake was elected as a Conservative MP in Yorkshire.
