Agents Do Charity - just three weeks from Christmas

There are just three weeks before Christmas (and a well-deserved break for agents).

But in the meantime there are plenty of opportunities for you to win publicity for your fund-raising efforts for good causes.

We have several examples below and if you want to follow in their generous footsteps just drop us a line at press@estateagenttoday.

Happy shopping, and we salute these great charity efforts...

Bidwells fund-raising for childrens’ charities: Bidwells has raise £175,000 for children's charities - a staggering £75,000 more than initially planned. The money has been raised during the firm's milestone 175th anniversary celebrations andtheir efforts ranged from from abseiling down a clock tower to squeezing 20 people inside a Mini, and from a canoe challenge to cycling to the top of Mont Ventoux.

They even produced a cook book, 'Make Me, Eat Me', in record time and roped in celebrities like Ed Sheeran and Raymond Blanc to contribute with their favourite recipes.

Patrick McMahon, Senior Partner, said: "When we first embarked on our fundraising year we set a target of £100,000 but we had modest expectations as to whether we could reach this. But, as the year progressed, the fundraising events got bigger and bolder and it was soon clear we were going to beat our initial target.”

The five charities are: Children's Hospice Association Scotland, Respite Nursing for Oxfordshire's Sick Youngsters, East Anglia's Children's Hospices, The Pepper Foundation - which funds The Pepper nurses - the hospice's at home children's nursing team and Leo's Appeal, fundraising for the children's wards at Milton Keynes Hospital.

Colfe’s School, Blackheath: JLL is pleased to support sport at Colfe’s School. JLL has been supporting the school for around four years by funding the kits worn by the boys’ 1st XV Rugby and girls’ 1st VII Netball teams when competing at both school and national level. The girls are currently down to the final eight in the Kent region of the National Schools’ Netball Competition and the boys are fighting it out in the NatWest Cup.

Graham Lawes, Director at JLL South East, comments: “JLL has been a long term supporter of sport at Colfe’s School and are proud to continue to do so. Sport plays such an important role in schools, it teaches pupils how to work as a team and also encourages them to enjoy physical activity, it’s great to be a part of that and we wish our teams every success with the season!”

Variety: Developer Crest Nicholson’s regeneration division has raised over £70,000 for Variety, the Children’s Charity, at its recent awards dinner. The event was attended by over 500 guests including Crest Nicholson staff, sub-contractors and suppliers.

The evening was a great success, raising a remarkable £70,000 for Variety, which is committed to improving the lives of ill, disabled and disadvantaged children in the UK. Crest Nicholson forged a partnership with Variety in 2005, and during this time the group has raised over £850, 000 for the cause.

Crest Nicholson’s Regeneration team helped to raise money throughout the evening with guests participating in an open auction. Prizes included a Formula One day out at Silverstone, a bespoke fitted kitchen and a luxury Fortnum and Mason hamper.

Attendees could also pledge support to Variety’s Sunshine Coach Programme, which provides life changing transportation for thousands of disabled and disadvantaged children across the country every day.
