NHBC toolkit to help agents selling new-build homes

It’s been revealed that the National Home Building Council has been helping the National Association of Estate Agents with a toolkit to help agents who sell new-builds.

The NHBC has been attending recent NAEA regional events following research which shows that agents marketing new homes are not always informed about the provisions in the NHBC warranty system.

A statement from the NAEA says: “When interviewing new build homeowners or new home seekers, 47 per cent of people expected to hear about NHBC from estate agents. However over 25 per cent of people question said they were informed from estate agents, so there is a big gap in knowledge and communication.”

The NHBC toolkit, which can be viewed on the NAEA website, includes a series of short training videos, printed documents for potential home owners, information for agents’ websites, and information about the NHBC warranty.

There is also background on how the NHBC independently inspects new homes at key stages throughout the build, and explanation about Buildmark, the NHBC warranty system which typically applies for 10 years upon a property’s completion.

Many estate agency chains have recently opened or extended new-home divisions as a result of the increasing in house building over the past year in particular.
