A former employee of consumer body Which? has been appointed to the council of The Property Ombudsman, one of the industry’s three approved redress schemes.
Mark McLaren worked at Which? for nine years and will join TPO council - which oversees and approved the scheme’s terms of reference and budget - with an additional role on the disciplinary and standards committee which deals with member agents who breach the scheme’s codes of practice.
McLaren’s work at Which? involved him with high-profile campaigns for estate and lettings agents to be obliged to join redress schemes.
He is now described as “a freelance policy and public affairs consultant” and takes over on TPO council from Noel Hunter.
