Another court appearance for estate agent on fraud and theft charges

An estate agent accused of an alleged £300,000 fraud charge has appeared in a magistrates court, ahead of an expected Crown Court hearing in the New Year.

The Carlisle News & Star local newspaper reports that Donald George Scott, 62 - who runs the Wigton-based Donald Scott Land and Estate Agents - appeared before Carlisle Crown Court in connection with two sets of alleged offences.

The first contains five counts of forgery and 11 counts of fraud and covers a five-year period up to January 2015; a £300,000 fraud is alleged and the press report suggests several different alleged victims are named on the charge sheet.

The report suggests that during a hearing at the city’s magistrates’ court earlier this month it was stated that Scott was charged with five fraud and six theft allegations.

Formal pleas are expected to be entered at a Crown Court hearing in January and Scott was given bail.
